Task Instructions
1. Jack the aircraft (Jack
Aircraft.) or support the nose as follows: a. Remove the main landing gear 15A fuse from the overhead console. Save this fuse.
c. Fold the wings of the aircraft. This will move the center of gravity aft so that it is easier to lift the nose up and down during the NLG rigging checks.
d. Connect battery charger to the charging terminals. The charger used must have a selectable Lithium charging mode.
e. Have a foam block or equivalent nearby that can be placed under the aircraft on the keel aft of the NLG wheel well that will allow the nose wheel of the aircraft to have approximately one inch or more clearance from the ground. This block will need to be removed numerous times during the procedure.
3. Extend the landing gear to its deployed position. If already extended, cycle the landing gear: With MASTER switch ON, move LANDING GEAR switch to UP position and allow the landing gear to retract fully. Move LANDING GEAR switch to DOWN position and allow the landing gear to extend fully. Turn MASTER switch OFF.
Note:
Allow gear to extend under its own weight (no additional weight added).
4. Fit the curved opening of ITL001714 over the bellcrank. Verify that the drag link fits within the hashed region of the tool (green region on Figure 395). Figure 395. ITL001714 Rigging Interpretation
6. With landing gear extended, set the aircraft on the ground (aircraft weight on landing gear), while carefully pushing the NLG bellcrank to the most extended point (over-extending slightly). To accomplish this, push aft on the portion of the bellcrank that extends toward the NLG leg.
7. Extend the wings.
8. With aircraft wings extended, both HT tips installed, NLG bellcrank manually rotated aft (over-extended position), and weight on wheels, verify that the drag link fits within the raised region of ITL001714 (red region on Figure 395). 9. Lift up slightly on the nose to relieve the weight from the gear while a second technician manually rotates the NLG bellcrank to the most forward position (under-extending gear slightly), then set the aircraft down.
10. With aircraft wings extended, both HT tips installed, NLG bellcrank manually rotated forward (under-extended position), and weight on wheels, verify that the drag link fits within the raised region of ITL001714 (red region on Figure 395). 11. If removed for this task reinstall the NLG 15A fuse.
Verification Method
If all of the above checks have passed, the NLG extend position is properly rigged. Complete
