Task Instructions
1. Verify battery capacity in accordance with Concorde Battery Corporation Component Maintenance Manual 5-0171, latest revision.
2. Connect both the Electrical Multimeter with DC Voltage function and the Battery Charger with manually-selectable Lithium battery chemistry setting to the battery charging terminals.
a. Attach positive charging clamp from charging unit and positive measuring lead from meter to the positive charging terminal.
b. Attach negative charging clamp from charging unit and negative measuring lead from meter to the negative charging terminal.
3. Turn on the charging unit. Set aircraft master switch to ON. Boost-charge battery up to 14.0V ± 0.1V as measured on the Electrical Multimeter. While actively extending or retracting the landing gear for the purposes of checking or adjusting the landing gear rigging, the aircraft must be in this configuration - master switch ON, charger and meter attached and ON with voltage maintained between 13.9V and 14.1V. While the aircraft is not actively extending or retracting the landing gear, the master switch, charger, and meter may be turned off.
Note:
If charger automatically switches to a “maintenance” or “trickle charging” mode, charging may need to be reset to maintain 14V.
4. Once the landing gear rigging activities are complete:
a. Remove negative charging clamp of charging unit and negative measuring lead of meter from negative charging terminal.
b. Remove positive charging clamp of charging unit and positive measuring lead of meter from positive charging terminal.
5. Replace the red and black terminal caps.
Verification Method
Turn the master switch ON. Verify that the BATTERY indicator does not stay lit in the annunciator panel.
Note:
If the battery requires charging after normal aircraft operation, the battery may be faulty and must be replaced.Battery Diagnostic
