Black-Waxed String
Task Instructions
1. Remove side windows.
2. Using black-waxed string, carefully run the wire under side window seal to remove the side window seal from the window frame.
3. Using a flat scraper, scrape the adhesive off the window frame. Clean with isopropyl alcohol and wipe clean with a lint-free cloth.
4. Completely clean the window frame of adhesive without damaging the paint or laminate underneath.
CAUTION:
Be careful not to scratch the paint around the perimeter of the window frame.
5. Prep bonding surface where seal will lay by lightly abrading surface and cleaning with isopropyl alcohol. Ensure that all carbon dust has been removed.
6. Use adhesion promoter on surface to be bonded. Apply using a dust free cloth that has been dampened with the adhesion promoter.
Note:
It typically takes 1-2 minutes depending on temperature and humidity for the AC-111 adhesion promoter to dry completely.
7. Wipe the surface leaving a clean wet surface. Allow solvent to flash off after application.
8. For one removable window frame cut a 7.5 feet length piece of the side window seal (ICA001092).
9. Start at the lower forward corner of the side window. Let a small amount of the seal overhang past the edge of the side window. See Figure 49. Begin applying the seal to the prepped surface. Figure 49. Perimeter Install - Seal
10. Center the seal ± .06 on the flat surface of the frame while routing the seal around the entire perimeter of the side window frame.
11. Cut the excess material of the ends of seals:
a. Overlap the two ends of the side window seal. Cut overlapping seals at a 45° angle. See Figure 50 b. Use adhesive (A-85) to splice together corners of the side window seal.
c. Allow adhesive to cure before installing side window frame onto main canopy frame. (Less than 18 seconds for a fixture cure, 8 hours for a full cure.)

12. After cure is complete, install windows in the aircraft.
Verification Method
Verify side window is secure after completely cured.
