Use the following procedure to remove the full insulation on the Muffler Shield.

Task Instructions
1. Remove cowlings, exhaust components, and muffler shield per Remove Exhaust System (00110+)
2. Remove three sets of bolts, spacers, nuts, and washers securing exhaust clamp. Retain hardware. (Figure 230 and Figure 231)
3. Remove the three grommets securing the insulation. (Figure 229)
a. It is permissible to cut the old insulation around the grommet, leaving the grommet if undamaged. Take care not to damage the laminate underneath. When installing the new insulation, trim around the grommet hat that is still installed.
4. Remove the insulation and clean with isopropyl alcohol.
Verification Method
The task is complete when all the insulation has been removed.
